Title: “Phenotyping Patients for Retrospective and Prospective Clinical Research”

Thomas A. Peterson Jr., Ph.D. is the Director of the Laboratory for Digital and Computational Health Science at the University of California San Fransisco (UCSF) and the Director of the Analytics Core for the UCSF REACH for Low Back Pain Mechanistic Research Center. Dr. Peterson’s research includes prospective clinical trials and retrospective electronic phenotyping of patients for biomedical research. Working closely with clinicians and clinical researchers, he specializes in statistical and computational approaches for real-world applications. Dr. Peterson’s talk will include discussions on how to create datasets for studying biomedical problems using the appropriate level of evidence and strategies for collaborative analyses.
