Dr. Pradeep Suri has joined the CLEAR Center leadership team, as Associate Director for the Resource Core. Dr. Suri is an Associate Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Washington, Staff Physician at the Veterans Affairs (VA) Puget Sound Health Care System, and Epidemiologist at the Seattle Epidemiologic Research and Information Center. He is a practicing clinical spine specialist, and his areas of research expertise include epidemiology and clinical trials.
Recently, Dr. Suri received the International Society of the Study of the Lumbar Spine (ISSLS) Prize for Lumbar Spine Research. The ISSLS Prize is sponsored annually by European Spine Journal and awarded competitively on the basis of scientific merit in the areas of basic, bioengineering, and clinical sciences. Dr. Suri and his team were one of two 2020 award recipients in the area of clinical sciences. Their manuscript, entitled, “Examining causal effects of body mass index on back pain: a Mendelian randomization study, explored the causal effect of BMI on the outcomes of back pain.
