Dr. Kevin Anstrom is a professor in the Department of Biostatistics and the Director of the Collaborative Studies Coordinating Center. Dr. Anstrom earned graduate degrees in biostatistics and statistics and has more than 25 years of experience applying statistical methods for clinical trials and observational studies. He has led multiple NIH-funded coordinating centers on projects focused on improving outcomes for patients with cardiovascular diseases, pulmonary disease, COVID-19, and chronic low back pain. Dr. Anstrom has a long history of mentorship with clinical trainees and other graduate students. Before joining the UNC faculty, he was a member of the Duke Clinical Research Institute (DCRI) from 2002 to 2022 as a faculty member in the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics. From 2018 until 2022, Dr. Anstrom was the Faculty Director of Biostatistics at the DCRI. Since 2022, he has served as PI for the Back Pain Consortium (BACPAC) Research Program Data Integration, Algorithm Development, and Operations Management Center (DAC).
