Dr. Jarvik is a Professor of Radiology with joint appointments in the Departments of Neurological Surgery and Health Services (School of Public Health) and adjunct appointments in the Departments of Orthopedics & Sports Medicine and Pharmacy at the University of Washington. He is the Co-Director of the Comparative Effectiveness, Cost and Outcomes Research Center (CECORC) and has been researching back pain for over 2 decades. Dr. Jarvik has been the PI or Co-I of multiple large grants from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and NIH and is currently PI of LIRE, a large pragmatic randomized controlled trial of a lumbar spine imaging reporting intervention.

Dr. Heagerty is Professor and Chair of the Department of Biostatistics at the University of Washington and leads the Center for Biomedical Statistics (CBS), which coordinates biostatistical collaboration within health sciences departments. As Director of CBS, he leads Data Coordinating Centers for the evaluation of therapeutics, surgical interventions, medical procedures, and clinical delivery. He has expertise in the analysis of longitudinal data, methods for prognostic biomarker evaluation, and design and analysis of cluster-randomized trials.

Dr. Friedly is an Associate Professor and Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs in Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Washington (UW) and Medical Director of the Outpatient Rehabilitation Clinics at Harborview Medical Center. She serves on the UW Physicians Board of Trustees and Executive Committee and is Co-Director of the Comparative Effectiveness, Cost and Outcomes Research Center (CECORC). Dr. Friedly has clinical expertise in treating patients with chronic pain and extensive research experience in health services and study design. She was most recently PI of a large, AHRQ-funded multicenter comparative effectiveness trial of epidural steroid injections for spinal stenosis (LESS trial).

Dr. Suri is an Associate Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Washington, Staff Physician at the Veterans Affairs (VA) Puget Sound Health Care System, and Epidemiologist at the Seattle Epidemiologic Research and Information Center.  He is a practicing clinical spine specialist. His areas of research expertise include epidemiology and clinical trials.

Dr. Mooney is a leader in the fields of computational biology and biomedical informatics. He heads Research IT for UW Medicine and manages the biomedical informatics teams in the University of Washington Institute of Translational Health Sciences. He brings significant experience in web engineering, data management, analytic software development, and dissemination of public and protected datasets. He leads the clinical research repositories for UW Medicine, along with many clinical research systems that support research activities with the UW Medicine system.

Sandra K Johnston, PhD, RN

Dr. Johnston has a PhD in Nursing Science with a post-doctoral fellowship in biomedical and health informatics. Over the last 13 years her focus has been in neuro-oncology research including clinical trial management at the University of Washington and collaborations at Mayo Clinic, Mathematical Neuro-Oncology Laboratory focusing on patient-specific predictive models to predict response to therapy in patients.  Currently, she works closely with Drs. Jarvik, Heagerty, and Friedly in her role as the Administrative and Operations Director of CLEAR, where she manages overall program development.[/expand]
